
When the NVIDIA RTX 50 Series launched, it also came with exclusive support for Multiframe Generation (MFG). That so-called exclusivity has supposedly been liberated, in a manner, by modders, who have also got it working on the previous generation Ada Lovelace RTX 40 Series.
What Happened?
Here’s the lowdown. Earlier in the week, a group of modders posted their first working version of NVIDIA’s Multiframe Generation running Cyberpunk 2077, with RTX 40 Series hardware. The modders essentially rerouted and patched out the restrictions in memory, allowing for the GPU maker’s own DLSS-G MFG code to run on Ada Lovelace architecture.
Sebastian Castellanos on X said that unless someone has both an RTX 40 Series and RTX 50 Series GPU to test the mod, they’ll be hard-pressed to tell the difference in performance.
NVIDIA Isn’t Going To Be Happy About This

You’re right. It wasn’t. Approximately 48 hours after the modders posted their successful attempts, NVIDIA made its move and pushed out an OTA update through the DLSS-G 310.9 update. Basically, the update renamed the temporal kernel, changed its descriptor layout, and therefore locking out RTX 40 Series GPUs from using Multiframe Generation.
Needless to say, users who downloaded the original mod found that they could no longer use it. But…
When At First You Don’t Succeed…
It became clear that the modders have some sort of vendetta against the green GPU giant when they released a fix to the block-out — version 0.4 — all within the same day of NVIDIA’s OTA patch: the update restored the Ada temporal-position correction and fixed the broken frame pacing or near duplicate generated frames at 3x and 4x.
Since the release of the mod, other folks have been testing it out for themselves. One X user, Gaming Optimized, gave a simple how-to on how to enable Multiframe Generation on their RTX 4060 GPU, testing it on Resident Evil Requiem and Forza Horizon 6.
