Rapid KL has announced that it will begin track replacement work on the Kelana Jaya LRT soon. The project, which is aimed at improving the rail services, will be carried out in seven phases starting this weekend and is expected to be completed by September next year.
In a statement, the company outlined the schedule for these works. As per this statement, the first phase will involve the Taman Melati and Gombak stations, with the work being carried out on 13, 20, and 27 September.
Then, the second phase will cover the Universiti, Kerinchi, and Abdullah Hukum stations on 15, 22, and 29 November. As for the third phase, it will affect the Datoβ Keramat, Jelatek, and Setiawangsa stations on 10, 17, and 24 January 2027. The remaining phases are as follows:
- 14, 21, 28 March 2027 – Universiti, Kerinchi, Abdullah Hukum
- 9, 16, 23 May 2027 – Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC, Ampang Park
- 11, 18, 25 July 2027 – Taman Jaya, Universiti, Kerinchi, Abdullah Hukum
- 12, 19, 26 September 2027 – Taman Melati, Gombak
Rapid KL clarified that these efforts serve to ensure that the track infrastructure remains safe and reliable. The companyβs statement went on to note that work on the longer and curved sections will require more time to complete, and may stretch until the following morning. As such, affected stations will begin operating at 9.30 AM on the scheduled days, rather than the usual 6 AM. Meanwhile, the stations not involved in the works will continue operating as usual.
Throughout the process, ticketing machines at the affected stations will be temporarily closed until 9.30 AM. Passengers will be able to purchase tickets at station counters. That said, Rapid KL and Touch βn Go product users can continue their journeys as usual.
Other than that, a free shuttle bus service connecting the affected stops will be provided. Meanwhile, station staff, auxiliary police, and βPrasarana Troopersβ volunteers will be on site to assist with passenger movement. Signage and information leaflets will also be available. The company also advises passengers to stay up to date on the track replacement work schedule and alternative routes during this time.
