POCO F9 Pro, F9 Ultra Tipped To Have A Larger Battery, 100W Fast Charging

POCO F8 Series

Xiaomi is expected to launch the successors to the POCO F8 series in the form of the POCO F9 series, more specifically the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra models. The two devices have already appeared in several certification databases, including Singapore’s IMDA and Indonesia’s SDPPI, suggesting that an international launch could be on the horizon. However, a recent report suggests that the upcoming phones could be rebranded versions of the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max for the global market. More interestingly, they could also arrive with significantly different battery capacities compared to their Redmi counterparts.

The information comes from Kacper Skrzypek, a reliable tipster who shared his findings on X. According to the informant, he spotted lines of code within HyperOS that allegedly point to the upcoming POCO F9 series, along with their respective battery capacities and charging capabilities. He also claims that the POCO F9 Pro could be the global rebrand of the Redmi K100 Pro.

In the images he provided, the upcoming POCO F9 Pro is tipped to feature a 6,330mAh battery, while the F9 Ultra could pack an 8,050mAh cell. Though these capacities are no doubt large, they are significantly smaller than those of the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max in China. For reference, the former has an 8,580mAh battery, while the latter features a 9,070mAh unit.

Despite the differences in capacity, all four models are reported to support 100W wired charging. As for the other specifications, sources online believe that the POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra could retain most of the hardware found on their respective Redmi counterparts.

While Xiaomi has yet to confirm anything regarding the devices, the rumour mill has been steadily providing details about the pair. As per sources online, the Pro edition might have a 6.59-inch screen, while its Ultra sibling could come with a larger 6.9-inch AMOLED display. Though they differ in size, both screens are expected to support 1.5K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate.

Inside, both phones may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chipset. This is then expected to be paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

As for the camera system, the F9 Pro is expected to feature a 200MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom. On the other hand, the F9 Ultra will also reportedly carry a 200MP main shooter, but will instead have a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. Both will have a 32MP selfie snapper.

With all that said, do keep in mind that the veracity of the details is still uncertain. After all, it is best to wait for an official confirmation from the Xiaomi group of companies themselves. Which is to say that you should take all the things we’ve discussed with a healthy dose of salt.
