HONOR Magic9 Series With New Design Teased; China Launch In September

HONOR Magic9

HONOR recently launched its Robot Phone in China, and during the event, the brand took the opportunity to tease another new product. The phone maker offered a glimpse of the upcoming Magic9 series, revealing hints of a new design and upgrades to its imaging system.

The teaser image itself does not show off the device in its entirety. We get a close up of the handsetโ€™s circular camera module, which appears to have been shifted to the top left corner, rather than being aligned in the centre. It also looks like that this module will sit on top of a squarish or rectangular island, so the phone could end up being on the thicker side here.

Regardless, the module seems to take inspiration from professional camera equipment, and the ARRI branding is clearly visible. HONOR already confirmed that its partnership with the German company will extend beyond the Robot Phone, and the Magic9 lineup is next in line to get the treatment. So, we can expect the brandโ€™s imaging technologies to be on board, including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Looks, and ARRI Cinema.

Furthermore, the text on the camera module mentions a 200MP lens with a 1/1.4-inch sensor with OIS. Beyond that, though, not much else can be gleaned from the image as far as specifications go.

With this in mind, rumours and leaks have been circulating online for quite a bit. Previous reports suggest that the lineup will feature three devices: a base version, a Pro variant, and a top-of-the-line Pro Max (or RSR) model. The phones are expected to feature OLED displays with a 1.5K resolution and Qualcommโ€™s Snapdragon 8 elite Gen 6 Pro SoC. Additionally, they may come with 8,000mAh batteries. Finally, HONOR may introduce an AI stylus accessory with the lineup.

Of course, these are rumours at this point, so itโ€™s best to take the information above with a grain of salt. The phone maker has not revealed much about the devices at this point. In any case, the lineup is confirmed to debut in China in September, though no specific date has been given. Similarly, the company has yet to disclose details on a Malaysian release.
