It’s been nearly four years since Razer last added an entry into its Naga line of MMO-centric gaming mice. Back then, the company announced the V2 HyperSpeed and V2 Pro which, oddly enough, saw some features being exclusive to the former. Now that the Naga V3 Pro is out, it has all of the old bells and whistles, as well as some new ones on top. That leaves us to wonder what features will be left out when the non-Pro model gets announced.
But back to the star of this announcement. The Razer Naga V3 Pro features the familiar magnetic, hot-swappable side plates. Use the full 12-button layout for the full MMO experience, swap it out for the six-button plate for something lighter like a MOBA, or the more conventional two-button option for shooters or anything less mechanically complex. The best part is, you now also get to keep the two quick-access edge buttons on the corner of the left clicker, regardless of the side panel you choose.
Of the lot though, probably the most interesting addition is what the company calls the ring-finger button. This converts the entire flared segment on the right – the part where you usually just rest your finger – into a button that you can press. There’s also a lock to prevent its use if you want it to just be a conventional finger rest. Though as someone who has played many games that actively make use of the middle mouse button, this is more of a little-finger button than one for the ring finger.
New to the Razer Naga V3 Pro is the HyperScroll Tilt Wheel Gen-2. Improving on the first generation of the tech, you now have a Standard Tactile mode for 24-step notched scrolling, Precision Tactile for 48 steps instead, Free-Spin mode which does as the name suggests, and a Smart-Reel mode which switches automatically between them. This does mean that you miss out on the optical scroll wheel though, which is a shame as the mouse also features the fourth generation of the brand’s optical switches.
For its battery life, the Razer Naga V3 Pro is pretty comparable to the generation before it. It gained a bit of extra time on the 2.4 GHz HyperSpeed Wireless mode at 155 hours, and lost some on Bluetooth, rated at 280 hours. For what it’s worth, it does support wireless charging if you get the puck that’s sold separately.
The Razer Naga V3 Pro is priced at RM769, and you can get it via the brand’s official online store or select retailers. There’s also a launch bundle of sorts available on the former, which has you buy two Naga V3 Pro mice and get two limited edition Gigantus V2 mats for free.
