Xpeng To Unveil New G7 Mid-Size Electric SUV Tomorrow

Following the launch of the P7, Xpeng is set to unveil its new G7 mid-size SUV in China tomorrow evening (11 June). According to company chairman He Xiaopeng, the G7 will be Xpeng’s first true “AI car”, equipped with the company’s self-developed Turing AI chip that enhances driving capabilities and a cutting-edge windshield display designed to captivate tech-savvy consumers.
Well, technology alone does not win the hearts of customers, so in terms of design it seems like the company has decided to go on a more traditional approach with the design elements. From the pictures that were unveiled, it can be said that the G7 has been given a boxy design with some of the recent touches such as the panoramic roof.

The G7 also features a black lower body surround, flush-mounted door handles, and a prominent rear spoiler that blends seamlessly with the rear privacy glass. Measuring 4,892 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, the SUV promises a spacious and comfortable cabin, according to the automaker.
Talking about the cabin, it is equipped with an augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) known as “Chasing Light Panorama AR-HUD”. This was developed in-house by the automaker integrating Huawei’s hardware with Xpeng’s software to provide enhanced navigation and driving assistance.
The AR-HUB features an 87-inch virtual display that enhances navigation by guiding the driver down into the correct lane before making a turn. It projects road layouts and dynamic navigation arrows, reminiscent of visuals seen in video games. Additionally, the system can anticipate and display potentially hazardous situations before they occur, enhancing driver awareness and safety.

As for the powertrain, the Xpeng G7 is given the same electric motor as its predecessor, the G6, which offers 292hp and is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery pack. Further details on the SUV is yet to be revealed by the automaker.
The presale of the car is set to begin alongside its unveiling. As for the price, once again the company is being tight-lipped about it, however, according to Car News China, the car is expected to be priced at CNY250,000 (~RM147,330).
