Volvo Teases Upcoming EX60 Electric SUV Ahead Of 2026 Debut

Volvo has released a teaser for its upcoming midsize fully electric SUV, the EX60, across its social media platforms. In the teaser, the automaker announced that the vehicle will make its official debut early next year.
The first glimpse of the EX60 appeared in the launch video of the ES90, where a nearly fully covered clay model of the SUV was briefly shown. From that preview, the EX60 appears to feature Volvo’s signature vertical taillight design—now reimagined with a sleek, modern touch that includes a thin horizontal light bar connecting the two light units.

With the release of a second teaser today, it’s evident that the EX60 draws design inspiration from both the EX90 and EX30. This influence is particularly noticeable in the taillights, tailgate, and the SUV’s boxy, upright silhouette—elements that reflect Volvo’s evolving design language across its electric line-up.
The automaker also, in a recent LinkedIn post, confirmed that the EX60 will debut Volvo’s next-generation SPA3 production architecture. This new platform is set to replace the current SPA2 architecture, which underpins models like the EX90 and ES90.
Designed to be fully modular, SPA3 will accommodate both smaller and larger vehicles, streamlining production and reducing costs. One of its key innovations is the use of structural battery packs, which Volvo claims will help lower both weight and manufacturing expenses.
Additionally, the EX60 will debut a new multi-adaptive seatbelt system that leverages real-time data from both interior and exterior sensors. This advanced system analyses the specifics of a collision—including the nature of the impact and the occupant’s physical profile—to adjust the belt’s response accordingly. By applying the optimal amount of force, it aims to significantly reduce the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

As of now, this is the only information that has been revealed by the automaker about the EX60. However, we can expect more information as it nears its launch.
