Grab Starts Testing Tumpang Saver Delivery For GrabFood

Last month, Grab unveiled a new GrabFood delivery option called Shared Saver and now, the platform has started testing out the feature in Malaysia as Tumpang Saver. The feature was spotted in beta earlier this week, which seems to be localised under the new name.
The company has had a Saver delivery option for a while now, where you pay less for your GrabFood delivery if you are willing to wait longer as a single rider will pick up and deliver multiple orders. With Shared Saver, aka Tumpang Saver, it cuts down costs even more by implementing a batch delivery that groups multiple orders headed to the same area.
From what we saw on the app, opting for Tumpang Saver only saved RM1 compared to the regular Saver option, with an additional 10 minutes added to the estimate delivery time. Of course, the difference will vary depending on where you are ordering from and when.
For now, Grab has not published any details such as the feature’s applicable hours, but a representative did confirm that it is currently being tested in Klang Valley. As to whether it will make it out of the beta stage, it is still too early to tell.
