Grab Launches “Grab EV” Exclusively For Airport Transportation

Grab today introduced its new Grab EV service, comprising 10 BYD M6 electric MPVs that are exclusively for transporting passengers from KLIA back home or to other destinations. This was possible through the collaboration between Grab with ecosystem partners BYD Sime Motors, Yinson GreenTech, and Power-Up Tech (P.UP). The purpose of this initiative is to promote EV adoption and to contribute to Malaysia’s Green Economy said the company in a statement.
Additionally, Director of Country Operations and Mobility, Grab Malaysia, Rashid Shukor stated that by prioritising high-demand and high-visibility routes such as KLIA, the company aims to showcase the practicality and comfort of EVs while increasing consumer awareness. “This supports our broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, “ he added.
In parallel, Grab has introduced a dedicated EV Lounge at the airport, offering passengers a comfortable space to relax while waiting for their ride. According to the company, this initiative is designed to encourage more passengers to try the new EV option, enhancing both convenience and overall travel experience.
The Transport Minister, Anthony Loke, who officiated the launch said that this is timely initiative that will support the nation sustainability goals. “Strong collaboration between the government and industry players like Grab is essential to achieving meaningful progress, and we welcome efforts by the private sector to introduce innovative, environmentally responsible solutions,” he added.
Th Grab EV launge is available at Level 3 (Door 4) at KLIA, while you can find it categorised as “EV pickup” in the app. The service would also cost RM134, which is arguably slightly more pricier than the Grab’s regular options.
