Apart from the various updates to its platforms, WWDC 2025 also saw Apple introducing new features coming to its AirPods 4 series and AirPods Pro 2, including studio-quality audio recording and camera remote capability. These aim to make AirPods more versatile for content creators and improve voice communication across the brand’s platforms.

With the new audio recording capabilities, users can capture studio-quality vocals using the built-in beamforming microphones and Apple’s H2 chip. Whether conducting interviews, recording podcasts or singing on the go, the improved microphone system combined with Voice Isolation helps deliver clear and natural-sounding audio, even in noisy environments. This enhancement extends beyond recording, improving call quality on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and supports a range of apps including FaceTime, Voice Memos, and video conferencing platforms.

In addition, Apple is making it easier to control the iPhone or iPad camera remotely using AirPods. By simply pressing and holding the stem, users can start or stop video recordings or take photos without needing to touch their device. This new feature aims to benefit content creators, particularly those who film themselves while performing or moving in sync with audio.

Apple reveals that these updates are first available to developers today via its Developer Program, with a public beta launching next month through the Beta Software Program. The final version is expected to roll out this autumn alongside iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26, though note that availability may vary by region, language or regulatory limitations.
