Xiaomi 18 Fold Launches In China With 200MP Camera, XRING O3 Chipset

After teasing it in recent weeks, Xiaomi has officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, in China. While the brand already has experience with foldable smartphones, this model marks the company’s first attempt at a wide-format foldable.

Specs-wise, the phone comes with a 5.38-inch cover screen with a 1,712 x 1,168 resolution. Once unfolded, users are greeted by a 7.58-inch inner display with a 2,364 x 1,672 resolution with a 2:1 aspect ratio. Both panels support refresh rates of up to 120Hz and offer a peak brightness of 4,000 nits. Meanwhile, the cover screen is protected by Xiaomi’s Shield Glass 3.0.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Fold comes with the company’s latest XRING O3 SoC. Memory options include 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM, while storage options are available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities.

Keeping the lights on is a 6,000mAh battery that supports 67W wired and 50W wireless charging. The foldable runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4, which is based on Android 17. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers.

For imaging, the Xiaomi 18 Fold features a triple-camera setup comprising a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.56-inch-type sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with an 80mm focal length that offers 3.5x optical zoom and up to 7x in-sensor zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. For selfies, both the cover and inner displays are equipped with 16MP cameras.

Xiaomi says that the 18 Fold will go on sale in China on 10 September. It will be available in four configurations: 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB. These are priced at CNY10,999 (~RM6,654), CNY11,999 (~RM7,259), CNY12,999 (~RM7,864), and CNY14,999 (~RM9,074), respectively. As for colours, it is available in red, black and white.

It’s also worth noting that the company is offering a Ceramic Special Edition of the phone. It is only available in a 16GB + 1TB configuration and is priced at CNY15,999 (~RM9,679). The company says that only 1,500 units of this variant will be produced. As of writing, there is no word yet on whether the Xiaomi 18 Fold will be available in international markets.
