Internet search giant Google has scheduled its Made by Google event for 6AM of 13 August local time. Normally, the end of that event would be when we learn all that we need to know about the upcoming Pixel 11 series of phones, as well as the accessories launching alongside them. But the company has decided to release quite a lot of details ahead of time, and now we know just about everything there is to know about them. For now, weβll be sticking to the two Pro models.
Starting from the very top, the Google Pixel 11 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Actua display, with the Pro XL getting a 6.8-inch equivalent instead. Their respective resolutions, accordingly, are 1,280 x 2,856 and 1,344 x 2,992. Beyond these differences, the two actually have a lot in common, as is tradition. As such, they share a 20:9 aspect ratio, refresh rates that go up to 120 Hz, and up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness. They also get a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio thanks to HDR, and full 24-bit depth for 16 million colours, plus a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top.
Inside, both phones sport the Tensor G6 chipset, coupled with either 12GB or 16GB of memory, and either 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage space. As with the screen differences, the Google Pixel 11 Pro gets a slightly smaller battery pack than the XL, rated at 4,850 mAh and 5,115 mAh respectively. Despite the differences, the company claims that both are capable of over 30 hours of use. As for charging rates, the smaller device also charges a little slower, at 30W, while the XL model charges at up to 45W. Both support Qi 2.2 wireless charging up to 25W.
For their cameras, both the Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL share a triple camera setup. This involves a 50MP main camera, a 48MP wide-angle with Macro Focus, and a 48MP camera with 5x telephoto zoom. The company says that the main and telephoto cameras also benefit from both optical and electronic image stabilisation. The Pro Zoom feature makes a return, this time bumped up to 120x. In front, they both share a 42MP shooter.
On the software side of things, you get the range of camera-related AI features like Photo Unblur, Portrait Blur, and Magic Eraser. Then on the camera island itself, you get HiLight, or Pixel Glow if you prefer. which is the LED notification system that the phones employ.
Naturally, you get Android 17 out of the box, with seven years of OS and security upgrades. Other features include WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity, and an IP68 rating to wrap it all up.
For the local market, Google has given the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL starting prices of RM4,999 and RM5,999 respectively. Pre-orders are open now, with general availability for the phones starting on 20 August. You can get them via Maxis, CelcomDigi, and U Mobile, or if you prefer a more standard retail route, Urban Republic, Thundermatch and Shopee. They both share the same list of colour options, which are Canyon, Fog and a matte Obsidian. There’s a fourth Olive option, but this is noted to be exclusive to the Google Store.
