Terengganu’s “Jodoh Darul Iman” Matchmaking Platform Officially Launches

terengganu launches portal jodoh darul iman

The Terengganu government has officially launched Portal Jodoh Darul Iman (PJDI), its online shariah-compliant matchmaking platform that was announced last year. According to Maliaman Kassim, chairman of the state committee on welfare, women’s development and national unity, the website is  designed to encourage legal marriages and support population growth among its residents.

During its launch ceremony today, Maliaman revealed that PJDI is initially targeting 500 participants in 2025. The platform is currently open to unmarried individuals as well as single mothers and fathers residing in Terengganu, but participation is limited to Muslims only. Future improvements will include enhanced user interface features and more refined candidate matching criteria.

To minimise misuse, the portal requires users to submit personal identification details such as their MyKad numbers, which will be verified by the Family Development Foundation. Falsified information will result in immediate removal from the programme. Additionally, the portal’s Terms & Conditions page notes that while user data is protected, participants are responsible for the information they choose to share with others.

Users of PJDI can specify their preferences for a spouse and submit personal details, which the portal’s secretariat will use to suggest suitable matches. The first meeting between matched individuals will be overseen by the secretariat and a marriage counsellor. If both parties agree to proceed, subsequent steps including engagement and marriage will be managed by their respective families.
