Samsung Unveils Galaxy Watch8 Series; Priced From RM1,299

The long-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event has arrived, and with it the announcement of an array of new products. Naturally, the stars of the show are the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 foldables, but not to be missed is the Galaxy Watch8 series. This lineup includes the Galaxy Watch8 and the Galaxy Watch8 Classic in all their squircle-y glory, though if you’ve been keeping up with the leaks, this should not come as a surprise.
To start off, the base Watch8 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with WiFi and LTE variants. The larger model sports a 1.47-inch 480×480 Super AMOLED display with Sapphire Crystal. Meanwhile, the smaller version of the watch features the same screen, but measuring 1.34 inches with a 438×438 resolution. Both displays have a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. For protection, the wearables are rated 5ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H.
The Watch8 is powered by a Exynos W1000 chipset, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The 44mm Watch8 is equipped with a 435mAh battery, while the 40mm variant comes with a 325mAh battery. Both batteries support WPC-based wireless fast charging.
Moving on to the Galaxy Watch8 Classic, it is only available in one size, which is 46mm. The display is a 1.34-inch 438×438 Super AMOLED panel with Sapphire Crystal. Like the base variant, it comes with 5ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H ratings. Internally, the watch runs on a Exynos W1000 processor, with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Powering the device is a 445mAh battery with support for wireless fast charging.
Aside from dual-frequency GPS, both the Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic are equipped with the brand’s BioActive Sensor for accurate health insights. Samsung has also introduced new features in the Samsung Health app, including Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, Running Coach, and Antioxidant Index.
The wearables ship with One UI 8 Watch based on Wear OS 6, and are the first smartwatches to come equipped with Google’s Gemini AI assistant right out the gate. The new UI also brings features like the Multi-Info Tiles, as well as the Now Bar.
Pre-orders for all watches are open now, with general availability starting from 25 July. The vanilla Galaxy Watch8 comes in Graphite and Silver colour options, with a starting price of RM1,299 and RM1,399 for the 40mm and 44mm sizes respectively. For the LTE versions, the smaller Watch8 retails for RM1,599, while the larger one is priced at RM1,699.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch8 Classic is available in Black and White, with the non-cellular version priced at RM1,799. As for the LTE version of the smartwatch, it is available for a slightly pricier RM2,099.
