Huawei has officially introduced its new Pura 80 series in China, offering a strong mix of upgrades in performance, imaging and even connectivity over its predecessor. The new line-up consists of four models: the Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80 Pro+, and the Pura 80 Ultra.

The standard Pura 80 is the most compact, featuring a 6.6-inch flat LTPO OLED display (1,256 x 2,760px) with adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour support, and Huawei’s second-generation Kunlun Glass for protection. It’s powered by a 5,600mAh battery and supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone includes 12GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. However, it uses a USB 2.0 port unlike its higher-end siblings.

On the camera front, the Pura 80 offers a capable setup with a 50MP main camera featuring variable aperture (f/1.4 to f/4.0) and OIS, a 12MP periscope telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom (125mm equivalent, f/3.4, OIS), a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 1.5MP multi-channel spectrum sensor. It also features a 13MP selfie camera, which is also present on other models under the Pura 80 line-up, by the way.

Moving up, the Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Pro+ both come with 6.8-inch LTPO OLED displays, protected by the same second-gen Kunlun Glass and framed by quad-curved glass panels, though the screens themselves appear mostly flat. Both models boast 5,700mAh batteries but offer faster 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. These also upgrade to USB 3.1 Gen 1 for improved data transfer speeds.

While Huawei has not confirmed the exact chipsets powering these devices, it claims that the new Ark Engine in the Pro and Pro+ offers a 36% performance boost over the previous generation. RAM and storage configurations vary slightly: both the Pro and standard models come with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage, while the Pro+ jumps to 16GB RAM and skips the 256GB tier, offering only 512GB or 1TB options.

The camera systems are further enhanced on the Pro and Pro+ models, featuring large 1-inch 50MP RYYB sensors with variable f/1.6 to f/4.0 aperture and OIS. The telephoto module uses a 48MP sensor with 4x optical zoom (93mm, f/2.1) and tele-macro capabilities. A 40MP ultra-wide camera and the same 1.5MP spectrum sensor complete the rear setup.

At the top of the line-up sits the Pura 80 Ultra, which packs the same 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display as the Pro models, but with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Similarly, it also comes with HarmonyOS 5.1 and is powered by a 5,700mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

One of its major highlights is a new periscope telephoto unit built around a 1/1.28-inch sensor and a dual-lens shifting system that allows 3.7x and 9.4x optical zoom. The phone uses a mechanical mechanism to shift between the lenses, offering OIS at both focal lengths. The f/2.4 lens delivers 83mm equivalent zoom, while the f/3.6 lens offers 212mm reach.

The Ultra also features a 50MP main camera with a 1-inch RYYB sensor, variable aperture (f/1.6–f/4.0), and OIS. Huawei claims this sensor reaches a record 16EV dynamic range, delivering up to 15 times better highlight and shadow preservation compared to the Pura 70 Ultra. A 40MP ultra-wide lens (13mm) and the 1.5MP spectrum sensor round out the setup.

All Huawei Pura 80 models run HarmonyOS 5.1 and support IP68/69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Connectivity features across the series include Wi-Fi 7 (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2 with LDAC and L2HC codec support, NFC, and NearLink (Huawei’s emerging alternative to Bluetooth). Satellite communication is enhanced with Beidou support across the lineup, with the Pro+ and Ultra models also supporting Tiantong. However, note that only the Ultra and Pro+ can maintain satellite connectivity passively.

In China, the Pura 80 Pro starts at CNY6,500 (~RM3,832), the Pro+ at CNY8,000 (~RM4,717) and the Ultra from CNY9,999 (~RM5,895). Pricing for the base Pura 80 hasn’t been announced, and no international release plans have been confirmed yet.
