Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital have announced a new collaboration that will bring the former’s high-performance EV, the SU7 Ultra, to the latter’s PlayStation-exclusive Gran Turismo 7 racing simulator. The announcement was made yesterday during the opening round of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 in London.

According to Xiaomi, this collaboration follows a meeting in May between its founder Lei Jun and Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi. During the visit, Yamauchi tested the SU7 Ultra and toured Xiaomi’s EV factory in Beijing. He later cited the car’s engineering capabilities, particularly its Nürburgring Nordschleife performance, as evidence of Xiaomi’s technical depth in the EV segment.

To recap, Xiaomi launched its first smart EV, the SU7, in 2024, completing its “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem. The SU7 Ultra is powered by a proprietary tri-motor HyperEngine V8s setup delivering 1,548 PS, and is capable of 0–100 km/h in under 2 seconds. Xiaomi claims the vehicle uses over 5 square metres of carbon fibre to reduce weight while maintaining luxury standards.

The company adds that Gran Turismo’s developers will work closely with its EV engineering team to ensure the in-game model accurately mirrors the car’s real-world performance and aesthetic. This includes handling characteristics like torque vectoring and adaptive damping, both of which are being rigorously tested on real-world tracks.

While most of us won’t get the chance to challenge the SU7 Ultra’s real-world Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6:467.874, we might at least attempt it virtually once the car arrives in Gran Turismo 7. That said, no release date has been announced yet, though it is confirmed for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game.

Looking beyond the SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital are also planning to co-develop a new concept vehicle for the VISION GRAN TURISMO series. For now, however, no further details have been shared.
