Mercedes-AMG Launches The SL 63 S E Performance For Over RM2 Million

Mercedes Benz Malaysia just launched the AMG SL 63 S E Performance with a starting price of RM2,168,888. This model is the fifth model to feature AMG’s E Performance hybrid technology.
For its hefty price tag, this car delivers a compelling blend of performance and design. Its elongated bonnet with pronounced power domes, short overhangs, and flat front end. To suit individual tastes, customers can choose from a range of design packages.

The option include; AMG Night Package with high-gloss black accents, the AMG Aerodynamics Package featuring additional flics for enhanced airflow, and the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre Package, which adds distinctive, high-performance detailing. Other exterior features include the extendable rear spoiler seamlessly integrated into the boot lid. It changes its position depending on the driving condition.
The cockpit of the car is more driver focused and has a portrait-format central display. The seating configuration is 2+2 which offers more space in the interior of the AMG. Other than that it comes with electrically adjustable AMG Performance seats, with integrated headrests and ventilation openings. For added long-distance comfort, three massage programmes are available, which can be elevated further by the ENERGIZING Package Plus—combining seat functions and ambient lighting into immersive relaxation modes.
As for the seat upholstery it has a few options starting from one- and two-tone Nappa leather to the exclusive MANUFAKTUR finish with diamond quilting. Sportier touches include combinations of Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfibre, accented by contrasting topstitching in yellow or red.
The intuitive MBUX multimedia system enhances the experience, featuring AMG and hybrid-specific menus such as “AMG Performance,” which visually convey key data like speed, torque, and the electric motor’s status. High-quality graphics also depict the hybrid power flow, offering an engaging blend of innovation and performance.

Now coming to the main part of an AMG, the powertrain. The SL 63 S E Performance has handcrafted AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine on the front axle and it is paired with an electric motor in the rear wheel of the car. The electric motor comes with an electrically switched two-speed transmission and a mechanical rear axle limited-slip differential. Together the AMG produces 816hp and 1,420 Nm of torque. It completes the century sprint in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 317km/h.
The battery powering the motor is based on cutting-edge technology derived from the Formula 1 hybrid racing systems used by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. This high-performance battery delivers a capacity of 6.1 kWh, with a continuous output of 70 kW and a peak power of 150 kW with a 13km of range. Charging is handled via a 3.7 kW onboard AC charger, compatible with wall boxes, charging stations, or standard household sockets.

Enhancing agility and stability, the vehicle also comes equipped with active rear-axle steering. At speeds up to 100 km/h, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction of the front wheels for improved manoeuvrability. At higher speeds, they steer in the same direction to enhance stability, delivering confident handling across a wide range of driving conditions.
The new AMG SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE features eight precisely calibrated AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes: “Electric,” “Battery Hold,” “Comfort,” “Smoothness,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” “RACE,” and “Individual.” Each mode is tailored to optimise the capabilities of the advanced hybrid drivetrain, offering a dynamic range from efficiency-focused to track-ready performance.

Alongside the AMG SL 63 S E, Mercedes also introduced the second-generation AMG GT Coupé for the local market, which is going for RM1,882,888.
