Sonos And IKEA Are Ending Their Partnership

Sonos and IKEA are callling it quits. The audio brand confirmed to several news outlets that, in conjunction with the ending of its relationship with the furniture brand, it is ceasing the production of its Symfonisk lineup, and that all current inventory will be phased out globally.
“Over the past eight years, we’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Ikea and are proud of what we’ve achieved,” Sonos spokesperson Erin Pategas told The Verge. “Although our work together has largely wound down and we won’t be releasing new products as partners, we’ll continue to support every existing Symfonisk product so customers can keep enjoying great sound in their homes for many years to come.”
While Sonos and Ikea will phase out its current inventory, the audio brand says that it will continue to release software updates for existing products.
Sonos and IKEA began a collaboration back in 2019, and launched two Wi-Fi speakers cum furniture pieces as their first products together. Furniture-shaped speakers notwithstanding, it has not been an entirely great year for the brand; it had a disastrous launch for its new app and has struggled to recover from the aftermath, to the point that the issue overshadowed the launch of its first ever pair of premium wireless headphones, The Ace. It’s even had to cancel the launch of two products, one of which was supposed to be a streaming speaker.
